Picture gone wrong? We'll find out why

Most TV reception problems come down to a handful of causes: an aerial knocked off-line, water in the cable, a corroded connector, a failed amplifier, interference, or simply an aerial that has worn out. Our aerial engineers carry signal meters, spare aerials, brackets, cable and filters, so most repairs are finished on the first visit.

Common aerial faults we fix

  • Pixelation and freezing: usually a weak or unstable signal, often from water in the cable or an aerial that has moved.
  • "No signal" on every channel: normally a break between the aerial and the TV, such as a damaged cable or connector.
  • Missing channels: often one weak frequency, or a TV that needs retuning after changes at the transmitter.
  • Storm damage: bent elements, a twisted mast or a bracket pulled loose. See storm damage repairs.
  • Mobile interference: nearby 4G or 5G masts can disrupt Freeview; a filter usually cures it.
  • Amplifier faults: a failed or overloaded booster in the loft can take out every room at once.

Repair or replace?

We repair rather than replace wherever that makes sense. Re-aligning an aerial, replacing a corroded connector or renewing a length of cable is often all it takes. If an aerial is close to the end of its life, or a repair would cost nearly as much as a new one, we'll tell you straight and let you choose.

Repairs start from £99 and we always agree the price before we start. If the fault turns out to be inside your TV rather than the aerial, we'll tell you that too.

Things to check before you call

  • Is the problem on every TV in the house, or just one? If it's one, the fault is likely that TV or its cable.
  • Have you tried a full retune? Channels sometimes move after transmitter changes.
  • Are the cables firmly pushed in at the wall plate and the TV?
  • Did the problem start after high winds or heavy rain? That points to the aerial or cable outside.

TV aerial repair questions

How much does a TV aerial repair cost?

Repairs start from £99. We confirm the price before any work starts, and most repairs are done in one visit.

Can you come out today?

Often, yes. We keep slots free for urgent repairs, so call in the morning for the best chance of a same-day visit.

Why does my TV picture break up in bad weather?

Usually because the signal is only just strong enough. Rain, wind or water in the cable then pushes it over the edge. A better aerial, realignment or new cable normally fixes it.

Do you repair satellite dishes too?

Yes. We realign dishes, replace faulty LNBs and repair cabling for Sky Q, Freesat and foreign-language satellite. See our satellite page.

Can you send me a quote from photos?

Often we can give you an idea of the problem and price from a photo. Send one by WhatsApp and we will reply as soon as we can.
