After a storm: what to do
- Stay safe. Never climb onto the roof or lean out to reach a loose aerial. Keep people and cars away from anything that could fall.
- Take photos from the ground or a window. They help your insurance claim and help us bring the right parts.
- Call or WhatsApp us. We treat storm call-outs as urgent, especially where an aerial or mast is hanging loose.
- Check your home insurance. Many buildings policies cover storm damage to aerials and satellite dishes.
A loose aerial can damage roof tiles, chimney pots and gutters as it moves, so the sooner it's secured the better.
What storms do to aerials
High winds bend aerial elements, twist masts so the aerial points the wrong way, and pull brackets and chimney lashings loose. Heavy rain finds its way into damaged cable and connectors, so a picture that survives the storm can fail a few days later.
Exposed homes on high ground, tall chimneys and aerials on long masts are the most at risk. When we repair storm damage we fit heavy-duty brackets and fixings so the new installation is better able to cope with the next storm.
Insurance claims
We can give you a written quote describing the damage and the work needed, which you can send to your insurer along with your photos. We can't tell you whether your policy covers it, so check with your insurer first.
Storm damage questions
Is storm damage to my aerial covered by insurance?
Often, under buildings insurance, but it depends on your policy and excess. Check with your insurer; we can provide a written quote for your claim.
How quickly can you come out after a storm?
We keep slots free for urgent jobs and prioritise aerials that are loose or hanging. After big storms demand is high, so call or WhatsApp as early as you can.
My TV still works but the aerial looks bent. Should I worry?
Yes, get it checked. A damaged aerial or loose bracket can fail completely in the next high wind and may damage the roof.
Do you repair storm-damaged satellite dishes and Starlink dishes too?
Yes. We realign or replace dishes and refit Starlink mounts that have moved in the wind.
