Starlink, installed properly

Starlink is satellite broadband that can bring a fast internet connection to homes and businesses where fixed broadband is slow or unreliable. It can be a good option for villages and farms around our area, and as a backup connection for home offices.

The dish works best with a clear, open view of the sky. Trees, chimneys and neighbouring buildings can cause short interruptions, so where the dish goes matters. That's where a professional installation helps.

How we install Starlink

  1. Obstruction check: we use the Starlink app's obstruction tool from the best positions on the roof, walls and garden. In the UK the dish faces roughly north, away from the equator.
  2. Secure mount: a roof, chimney, wall or pole mount chosen for a clear view and fixed to cope with high winds.
  3. Neat cabling: the dish cable is routed tidily into the house and the entry point sealed against water.
  4. Router position: we place the router where the Wi-Fi reaches the rooms you use most, and can add mesh units or wired connections if needed.

Who is Starlink for?

  • Rural homes and farms where fixed broadband is slow or unavailable.
  • Home offices that need a second connection if the main line fails.
  • Businesses and sites such as yards, barns and temporary offices.

You order the Starlink kit and choose a plan directly from Starlink. We take care of the installation. We don't quote Starlink prices or speeds here as they change; check the latest on Starlink's website.

Starlink is broadband, not TV, so it doesn't replace an aerial or satellite dish for Freeview or Freesat. We can fit both on the same visit.

Starlink installation questions

Do I need professional installation for Starlink?

Not always. Many people set it up themselves. A professional installation helps when the dish needs to go on a roof, chimney or tall pole to clear trees, or when you want the cable hidden neatly.

Where will the dish go?

Wherever it has the clearest view of the sky with the fewest obstructions, usually high on the roof, a chimney, a gable wall or a pole in the garden. We check with the Starlink app before fixing anything.

Can you install Starlink if I have already bought the kit?

Yes. Whether you already have the kit or are about to order it, we can survey, mount and set it up.

Can the dish go on a listed building or in a conservation area?

Planning rules can apply to dishes and antennas on listed buildings and in conservation areas. Check with your local council; a garden pole mount is often an alternative.
